I grew up with a children’s book about “Snowflake Bentley”, or Wilson Bentley, a Vermont photographer who lived around the turn of the 20th century. He made iconic photographs of individual snowflakes using a microscope and theorized that no two snowflakes were alike. His black and white photographs of snowflakes and their intricate crystaline structures has always stuck with me, and these monoprints are my homage to his work.

Each of these monoprint snowflakes was created by first folding an origami snowflake, then carefully rolling a layer of ink across the top. Printing directly from the three-dimensional origami piece captures the intricacies of all the folds, mirroring the complexity of actual snowflakes.

Because each print is an original hand-inked and hand-printed work of art, there will be some variation between pieces. Prints are sold unframed.
